Why Aluminium |

Strong
yet light weight
Aluminium is easy to transport and install, seldom needing a
crane for installation. Handling ease makes our light poles
and flag poles very popular with installers.
No rust
Unlike steel and its finishes, aluminium will not peel, crack
or rust. Aluminium forms a natural protective oxide layer which
can be thickened by anodising.
Rust on steel is not protective, instead progressively transforming
the metal into iron oxide and destroying the product. Worse,
steel poles rust from the inside, giving little warning of impending
structural failure.
The advantage of aluminium make it the obvious choice for most
environments.
Long Life
Aluminium light poles and flag poles have a proven
service life in excess of 85 years. Without regular, expensive
maintenance, steel rarely lasts longer than 25 years in typical
Australian coastal conditions.
Design Flexibility
Goldspar has specialist skills in the development
and use of aluminium extrusions. The extrusion process allows
design and fabrication scope unmatched by other metal forming
processes.
Safety
Goldspar's standard aluminium light pole designs
offer frangibility without the need for a sheer base. In the
event of vehicle collision, the risk of injury and damage is
reduced and, in the case of aluminium power poles, power lines
are less likely to be brought down.
Low Maintenance
Aluminium
requires minimal care, cleaning and maintenance.
Environment
Aluminium retains a recycling value and offers options
for reuse. In start contrast, steel needs cranes and heavy handling
equipment for removal and has little reuse ore recycling value.
Steel often becomes a liability at the end of its service life.
Unlike alternatives, aluminium need never deface or pollute
the environment.
